Summary
The Lonagain 1961 Chevrolet Impala SS
is not only one of the earliest and rarest Nostalgia Super Stock
combinations currently running, it also features a show car look with
its arrow-straight sheetmetal painted black with red trim and chrome
accents.
Owners
Owned by Lon Kenoyer and Cliff
Roberts of Warrenton, Missouri / Kenoyer and
Roberts race the old-fashioned way; they do not use sponsor support,
covering all expenses themselves. However, long-time friend
Keith Kirchner provides crew assistance.
Driver
A super-veteran of drag racing, Kenoyer has been
driving race cars since the 1950’s, including American Hot Rod
Association Super Stock Eliminator at the national level until the early
1980’s. He owns 13 career class championships.
History
Lonagain was acquired in 1996. “We were
watching the increasing interest in NSS cars and decided we wanted to
race again,” said Kenoyer. The car had just 3,000 original miles
after Kenoyer and Roberts had finished a frame-off
restoration. They then dedicated the car specifically to NSS racing. All
the work was done in Kenoyer’s shop, no labor was contracted to
vendors.

Results/Achievements

be OK, we just want to continue to have a great time with a lot of nice
people.” |
