        Teacher's Pet II                     1274

                                    Summary

Combining the informal "School of Hard Knocks" with formal college-
level training, Bob Durling has educated many a race track opponent
about how well a Max Wedge Super Stocker can perform.

                               Owners and Sponsor

Owned by Bob and Diana Durling of Mooresville, Indiana/sponsored
by Lincoln College of Technology/crew work provided by the Durling
family, including Diana as crew chief, daughter Bobbi Jo (U.S.A.F.) and,
husband Kevin, son Ben (U.S.M.C.) and wife Alison, and a granddaughter, Emma.  Sponsors also include A & A Automotive and Eric Ward Airbrush artist.

                                   Driver

Bob Durling is an instructor of automotive technology at Lincoln College of Technology, near Indianapolis, Indiana.

                                       History

Originally named "Shamoo", this rare Max Wedge in a Sport Fury package was purchased by Durling from Dallas Peffley.  The preparation for NSS racing, the mechanical updates and paint were done by Durling and Eric Ward with additional support from the students of Lincoln Tech.

                                     Technical

Chrysler high deck stock iron block, 440 cubic inches / From A & A Automotive Rick Alison's crossram Chrysler intake manifold with dual Carter 750 carbs/ original '426 Super Stock' valve covers / A72 Torqueflite automatic transmission / footbrake only / Monoleaf springs and CAL TRACS / fiberglass hood / rear slicks 10.5 x 29.5 / race-ready with driver, will tip a scale at a remarkable light 3310 pounds

                                   Performance

For 1/4 mile, runs on 11.00 NSS/C indexes at around 125 mph.  Best run so far is 10.70 1/4 and 6/79 1/8.

                              Results/Achievements

"Sold my Chevy to race an old Mopar.  Wow!  How smart is that??"  Even though this car is built with respect for NS/S racing, Bob has been seen at weekend bracket races near his home town.
