Sox&Martin Lil’ Boss 67
Summary A definite fan favorite with its history and wheels-high launches, the Sox&Martin Lil’ Boss Barracuda was designed and built by the Pfohl Family with the approval of the late Ronnie Sox to replicate one of the legendary team’s best, its 1968 Super Stocker.
Owners and Sponsors Owned by Rich Pfohl (father) and Craig Pfohl (son) of Dubuque, Iowa / sponsored by Ray Barton Racing Engines, Pro Trans and Mike Finnin Chrysler Jeep
Driver Craig Pfohl, 37, has been driving cars down the dragstrip since he was 16, including the Sox&Martin Lil’ Boss since 1994. Rich Pfohl is a drag racing veteran and both father and son have been restoring cars and building engines for many years.
History Early in 1993, the Sox&Martin Lil’ Boss was a rough and outdated former drag race car with a blown motor. By the end of the year, however, Rich, Craig and Mark Pfohl had transformed the 1967 Barracuda into an accurate and beautiful replica. The mission was completed when the reborn race car took its first pass down the Indianapolis Raceway Park ¼-mile at the 1994 Mopar Nationals. Car and driver have been featured in numerous publications and on ESPN’s Inside Drag Racing aired August 23, 2001.
