Schweppe Food Service 3016
Summary Unique in two big ways, the Schweppe Food Service Dodge features a big-inch Hemi package in a 1963 Polara, a combination which historically is a year before the factory actually released the potent Hemi/B-body Super Stock combination.
Owner and Sponsor Owned by Mike Singleton of Naperville, Illinois / sponsored by Schweppe & Sons Food Service of Lombard, Illinois
Driver Mike Singleton is a sales manager of food service supplies for Schweppe & Sons. He has been driving race cars since 1979.
History Running in the quickest F/X classes (8.75 to 9.25 indexes), this car has been developed far beyond its original configuration. “It was an every day street car, like the ‘Little Old Lady From Pasadena,’ Super Stocker,” said Singleton. The Polara was built into a race car in 1995 and then engineered again in 2005.
Technical Chrysler Hemi, more than 500 cubic inches / Hogan sheetmetal crossram intake manifold / factory original Holley 780 vacuum secondary carburetors with Super Stock setup / Chrysler A727 Torqueflite automatic transmission by Pro Trans / Ford 9-inch rear member, 4.29 ratio
Performance For ¼-mile, has run low 9’s at 146 mph
Results/Achievements Singleton is still working through breakage and limited racing opportunities.
